Note: If your version of the Newfangled Gated Content plugin is less than 2.4.10, “Gated Content Widgets” will be referred to in WordPress as “Content Upgrades”.
These instructions assume you are using the Content Upgrade custom post type that is included in the Newfangled Starter Theme without any customizations.
- In WordPress, go to Gated Content Widget > Add New (or any preferred method of adding a new post).
- Enter the post title. This will not be visible on the front end of the site.
- Use the Title and Intro Text fields to enter the text you wish to display before the form in the widget.
- Select the form you wish to display in the widget. Typically the form you select will correspond with the type of asset you are gating – for instance, select “Content Upgrade” as the form if you are gating a Content Upgrade, or E-Book as the form type if you are gating an E-Book.
- We recommend leaving the Collapse Form box unchecked.
- Add the Response Text, which will replace the form on submission. Note that the Title and Intro Text will remain visible after the form is submitted as well.
- Add the Download Button Text and Download Button URL. The button will display beneath the Response Text and will link to the URL, which will typically be a PDF hosted in Act-On or another marketing automation platform.
- Publish post.
- On any post or page, click the Add Gated Content Widget button above the main content editor (if using the Classic Editor) or add a Gated Content Widget Gutenberg block if using blocks.
- Use the dropdown to select the Gated Content Widget you wish to embed.
- Publish for new posts/pages or update if adding to an existing post/page.
