Article Prospect Experience Design 2011: The Year in Review by Christopher Butler on December 20, 2011 If I had to pick one word to describe 2011 at Newfangled, it would have to be "team." Whether it was internally or with our clients, we worked in a lot of face-time together, finding new and interesting ways to collaborate and teach each other new things. The grid of images above is only about a tenth of the number of similar pictures I took during the many meetings and enrichment sessions that took place this year. And through it all, we did more work than any other year in our 16-year history. So, of course, we're looking forward to recharging over the holidays and starting 2012 refreshed. Just like last year, I gathered recommendations from our team of their favorite Newfangled content from 2011. Here's what they want you to see... Read Now About
Article On Ethical Technology by Christopher Butler on December 7, 2011 This isn't exactly Newfangled material, but in case anyone here is interested, I've been blogging about ethics and technology over here for the last several days. This month, Chris Butler takes a hard look at how interactive designers have responded to mobile devices and makes a case for taking a broader (no-box) approach: designing for content, rather than containers… Read Now About
Article The Kindle Fire’s New Browser (And What It Plans to Know About You). published on November 28, 2011 With the launch of the new Kindle Fire, all of us in the web development field may have a new browser to add to our QA roster in 2012: Amazon Silk. Projections of the Kindle Fire (with its appealing $199 price point) are strong, with estimates of around 5 million by the end of 2011 and 20 million by 2012. To put that in perspective, the iPad has sold about 28 million since its launch. Rather than use an existing browser, Amazon has crafted its own that takes advantage of their vast cloud computing network to speed up mobile browsing Read Now About
Article My Mixbook for 2011 by Christopher Butler on November 10, 2011 Well, here we are at the end of 2011 and Volume 3 of A Year of Ideas is ready. Just like the past two volumes, I spent the past year reading a ton on the web (something around 1500 articles) and bookmarking the most interesting stuff for possible inclusion in Volume 3. I ended setting aside 61 articles and have spent the last couple of months editing that list down to 25, creating the interior design and cover, and getting them printed. They just arrived and I'm pretty excited and happy with how they turned out... Read Now About
