Privacy Manager

The Newfangled Privacy Manager plugin helps your site comply with the requirements of various state and international privacy laws, such as CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and California Privacy Laws. The plugin adds a custom set of fields called Newfangled Privacy Fields to the Gravity Forms form builder interface that can be added to forms on your site. The use of these custom fields will vary based on the nature of the form.

The custom fields include:

  1. Privacy Notice
This field is used to inform and record a visitor’s consent as to the various ways in which their data is stored/processed/transferred. We recommend adding this Privacy Notice  field to every form and showing it as a required field if the user selects an EU country. The label of this field should be a synopsis of the privacy policy and contain a link to that full notice. This link will optionally open in a modal window.
  2. Updates Signup
This field is used to explicitly record a visitor’s consent to receive email communications from you, typically via a marketing automation platform. We recommend adding this field to every form except an explicit Email Signup form and showing it if the user selects an EU country or Canada. This field should not be required to submit the form.
  3. Limited Submit
In some cases, you may wish to disable the collection of certain fields if a visitor is in the EU. To do this, place the Limited Submit field above all the fields you wish to bypass and use conditional logic to control when the Limited Submit is triggered. When it is triggered, all fields following the Limited Submit button (except captchas) will be hidden and made non-required.
  4. Is EU?
This hidden helper field is set with a value of 1 if the visitor selects an EU value from the ‘Country’ dropdown of a form. The list of matching countries can be set under Settings > Newfangled Privacy Manager. Be sure that the list of countries in the settings match the *values* of the country dropdown field, not the label.

The text and labels for these fields can be controlled globally, under Settings > Newfangled Privacy Manager. To make full use of this plugin and it’s functionality, you’ll need to have a Privacy Policy/Terms of Use Page on your site.
